GOB Token Contract Migration

Back in July, our systems experienced a security breach that created a major loss of tokens that affected both the team and the community. Our utmost priority is to ensure the security and integrity of our ecosystem, and as a result, we are announcing an upcoming token migration.

What Happened?

As we communicated to the community, at the time, our team discovered unauthorized access by a malicious actor to a private key that had control of team vesting and community claim smart contracts. The attack drained the tokens from these two contracts, which led to the loss of 94,058,090 GOB tokens.

We have taken swift measures to contain the situation and secure all other points of failure by ensuring that multi-sig and hardware wallets are attached to all contracts and that no private keys are contained in any centralized components. Moving forward, we believe it is in the best interest of our community and team to initiate a comprehensive token migration to make everyone whole due to the hack.

The Token Migration:

The upcoming token migration will involve a complete transition to a new token contract with a new tokenomics structure. The new contract will be identical to the original one, so all previous contract audits will still apply. Our technical team is working diligently to ensure a seamless transition for all token holders.

The migration will be facilitated via an on-chain snapshot of the old contract, followed by a token airdrop on the new contract. These two events will work as follows:

• Snapshot: On October 16, 2023, at 12pm EST, an on-chain snapshot will capture all wallets holding the GOB token and their balances on three chains — Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Polygon.
• Airdrop: On the same day at a later time, based on the snapshot, the new token will be airdropped to the captured wallets on Arbitrum.
• If any smart contract wallets are holding the token, they will be excluded from the airdrop. Instead, their balance will be reserved for a manual airdrop upon the owner's request. Proof of ownership will be requested based on an on-chain signature.
