Arbitrum Airdrop Guide -- How to Get Arbitrum Airdrop?

      Beginner 5m

The Arbitrum Foundation announced on Thursday that they will airdrop $ARB, the new token of the biggest player in Ethereum's layer 2 scaling landscape, Arbitrum, to members of the community on Thursday, March 23. ARB holders can vote on key decisions that will govern Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova with the introduction of the ARB token. This will make the Arbitrum ecosystem more decentralized. This article will try to introduce the details of Arbitrum airdrop eligibility and how to claim it.

      What Is Arbitrum Coin?

The Arbitrum(ARB) token is an ERC-20 governance token used to participate in Arbitrum DAO's on-chain governance. The token is minted on Arbitrum One, a Layer 2 Arbitrum rollup chain, and managed by the DAO, which governs both Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova chain protocols. Owning $ARB tokens allows you to vote on Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova chain governance proposals, such as chain upgrades and the use of the DAO Treasury funds. Votes are token-weighted, meaning the more tokens you have, the more influence your vote has.

Holding $ARB tokens gives you the power to vote on proposals that affect the Arbitrum DAO and the technologies it governs. You can vote with your own tokens, or you can delegate your voting power to someone else. Delegation is a great option for busy DAO members who don't have the time to review and discuss proposals regularly. In short, holding $ARB tokens allows you to democratically shape the future of the Arbitrum ecosystem alongside other aligned token holders.

      Arbitrum Airdrop Criteria

Arbitrum teamed up with Nansen, a crypto analytics firm, to establish ARB token eligibility based on the level of user activity. According to the official announcement from Arbitrum, Arbitrum is using a points system to determine the number of ARB tokens that airdrop recipients can claim. Below is a summary of the qualifying actions for points earned on Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova, as well as the value assigned to points earned before and after the launch of Arbitrum Nitro on the mainnet.

Qualifying actions for points earned on Arbitrum One:

      • Bridged funds into Arbitrum One

      • Conducted transactions during two distinct months

      • Conducted transactions during six distinct months

      • Conducted transactions during nine months

      • Conducted more than four transactions or interacted with more than four different smart contracts

      • Conducted more than ten transactions or interacted with more than ten different smart contracts

      • Conducted more than 25 transactions or interacted with more than 25 different smart contracts

      • Conducted more than 100 transactions or interacted with more than 100 different smart contracts

      • Conducted transactions exceeding in the aggregate $10,000 in value

      • Conducted transactions exceeding in the aggregate $50,000 in value

      • Conducted transactions exceeding in the aggregate $250,000 in value

      • Deposited more than $10,000 of liquidity into Arbitrum

      • Deposited more than $50,000 of liquidity into Arbitrum

      • Deposited more than $250,000 of liquidity into Arbitrum

Qualifying actions for points earned on Arbitrum Nova:

      • Bridged funds into Arbitrum Nova

      • Conducted more than three transactions

      • Conducted more than five transactions

      • Conducted more than ten transactions

Value assigned to points earned before and after the launch of Arbitrum Nitro on the mainnet:

      • Points earned before Arbitrum Nitro was launched on Arbitrum One mainnet (minimum of three) are worth twice as much as points scored after.

      • The launch of Arbitrum Nitro on Arbitrum One mainnet occurred at block #22207817 (Aug-31-2022 02:32:22 PM +UTC).

It is important to note that point scores were capped at 15, and users could earn a maximum of one point per qualifying action performed before the snapshot date. Also, points earned on Arbitrum Nova could either bring a user up to 4 points total, or give them one additional point if they had already scored 4 points or more on Arbitrum One.

      Converting Points to tokens:

As described earlier, points scored before and after Arbitrum Nitro was deployed on Arbitrum One mainnet were weighted differently. Points scored before Arbitrum Nitro were worth twice as much as points scored after -- as a result any points scored after Nitro resulted in half as much of an allocation per point shown in the table above. If an address only became fully eligible (minimum of three points) post-nitro, all points scored counted as post-nitro points. The minimum airdrop entitlement is 625 tokens. The maximum airdrop entitlement is 10250 tokens.

      How to Claim Arbitrum Airdrop?

To claim the Arbitrum airdrop, you need to be eligible based on the points you earned according to the criteria outlined by the team. If you are eligible, you can follow the steps below to claim your Arbitrum airdrop.

Here are the general steps to claim the Arbitrum airdrop:

      1. Check your eligibility: Make sure you met the criteria to be eligible for the airdrop based on the points you earned on Arbitrum One and/or Arbitrum Nova.

      2. Have an Ethereum wallet: The airdrop is distributed as an ERC-20 token, so you need an Ethereum wallet that supports these tokens. You can use wallets like MyEtherWallet, MetaMask, or any other wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens.

      3. Visit https://arbitrum.foundation. Connect your wallet to Arbitrum: You need to connect your wallet to the Arbitrum network using a compatible wallet like MetaMask. (Check the article to learn"How do I Add Arbitrum to MetaMask?")

      4. Claim your tokens: Click "Check Eligibility'. If you are eligible for the airdrop, you can claim your ARB tokens on March 23, 2023.

It's important to be cautious when claiming airdrops. Avoid giving out your private keys or personal information to anyone claiming to help you claim the airdrop.

      Closing Thought

The Arbitrum airdrop was a significant event that rewarded early adopters of the Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova networks. The criteria for eligibility were focused on various actions taken by users on these networks, and the airdrop token allocation was determined based on the number of points earned. The fact that points earned before the launch of Arbitrum Nitro were worth twice as much as points earned after added an extra incentive for early adopters to participate. Although Arbitrum delayed launching its governance token, most people are still looking forward to theArbitrum Airdrop.
