Blockchain education gets national boost in Pakistan
Binance Academy is partnering with Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) to roll out a nationwide blockchain education initiative designed to prepare thousands of students for careers in decentralized technologies. By 2026, the program aims to reach 80,000 students and train 300 university educators across 20 institutions throughout the country.
The collaboration is an extension of the Global University Outreach Program (GUOP), an initiative Binance Academy launched with the Blockchain & AI Technology Center (BAITC) to introduce Web3 education on a global scale. GUOP has already expanded to 20 countries and set an ambitious target of reaching over one million students by 2026 across 200 universities.
"In line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for a digitally empowered Pakistan, this partnership marks an important milestone in the country’s digital transformation. It contributes to economic growth and positions Pakistan as a global source of skilled blockchain talent. By joining forces with the world’s leading crypto exchange, Binance, along with the Blockchain & AI Technology Center, we are equipping our students with cutting-edge knowledge, preparing them to shape the future of the digital economy and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the global tech landscape." —The Minister of IT and Telecom, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja
Training educators to scale blockchain knowledge
A core feature of the initiative is its focus on educator empowerment. Through specialized training resources and curriculum support, professors will be equipped to deliver blockchain education tailored to Pakistan’s growing digital landscape. Binance Academy has previously worked with 13 universities across three provinces, educating more than 3,000 students in the country since 2022.
Binance's Bader Al Kalooti emphasized the importance of skill development in the evolving digital economy.
"Our collaboration with the Ministry of IT and Telecom in Pakistan marks a significant step toward building a knowledgeable workforce ready to drive innovation and foster growth in the digital economy. Together, we’re laying the foundation for a future where blockchain technology creates opportunities across every sector." — Binance's Bader Al Kalooti
National tech ecosystems. This includes integrating coursework into university curricula, providing certifications, and facilitating access to career development opportunities through affiliated programs like bootcamps and hackathons hosted by BAITC.
The bottom line
The Binance-MoITT partnership signals Pakistan’s increasing commitment to integrating emerging technologies into its education system. By enabling thousands of students and hundreds of educators with structured blockchain education, the initiative not only addresses current skill gaps but also sets the foundation for a sustainable, innovation-driven tech workforce.
