What Is Aptos Blockchain(APTOS)?
What Is Aptos(APTOS)?
Aptos is a new independent blockchain project established in 2021. It is a Layer 1 blockchain that focuses on safe and scalability. The team of Aptos is comprised of the original creators, researchers, designers, and builders of Diem, in fact, most of the members are ex-Meta(Facebook) employees. Aptos is using the programming language independently developed by Meta, Move. Aptos claims it is developing a next-generation Layer 1 that with the ability to process over 130k transactions per second using its parallel execution engine.
Who Are the Investors of Aptos(APTOS)?
- On Feb 24, 2022, Aptos announced a $200M funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, a venture capital firm that has invested in many crypto startups. Funding also includes participation from Tiger Global, Three Arrows Capital, Multicoin Capita, and Coinbase.
- On July 25, 2022, Aptos announced a $150M funding round led by FTX Ventures and Jump Crypto, including new investments from Apollo, Griffin Gaming Partners, Franklin Templeton, Circle Ventures, Superscrypt founded by Temasek, and continued support from a16z crypto and Multicoin.
Aptos' investors are top-level capitals. What's more interesting is that the capitals are basically the original "team" that used to invest in Solana.

Who Are the Founders of Aptos(APTOS)?
Aptos(APTOS) is founded by Mo (Mohammad) Shaikh and Avery Ching. The founding team of Aptos are former members of Meta (Facebook) company and used to participate in the development of Diem.
- Mo is a 3x founder and expert in going from 0-1 and scaling products. He has been invited to speak at the World Economic Forum at Davos to discuss innovation across sectors. Mo combines his knowledge of building products, fundraising, developing business strategy & scaling teams. He has over a decade of depth in capital markets, private equity, and venture capital across the US, EU, and the Middle East markets.
- Avery Ching graduated from Northwestern University. He used to work for Facebook as a principal software engineer, he is also an Apache software foundation member. Now Avery Ching currently is the Co-Founder & CTO of Aptos(APTOS).
How Does Aptos Blockchain Work? What Are the Features of Aptos?
The Aptos Blockchain uses the Move virtual machine (VM) for executing operations. While many blockchains implement a set of native operations, Aptos delegates all operations to Move, including account creation, fund transfer, and publishing Move modules. To support these operations, blockchains built on top of Move must provide a framework (akin to an operating system for a computer or a minimally viable set of functions) for interacting with the blockchain.
When talking about the features of Aptos, Avery Ching, the co-founder and CTO of Aptos has mentioned in the article The Aptos Vision, that user experience needs significant improvement in safety and scalability, so the main features are as follows:
- Aptos use the Move language: A safe and flexible blockchain language. The Move language is designed for safe resource management and verifiable execution on a blockchain. Aptos accounts, transaction fees, a standard library, validator node management, and configuration are all implemented with Move.
- Production-grade, high assurance BFT consensus protocol. Aptos' first implementation of the BFT protocol added an active pacemaker that used timeouts to synchronize validators much more quickly than waiting for increasing timeouts. With the latest improvement to the protocol, blocks are committed in as few as two network round-trips, making sub-second finality the common case. The safety of the consensus protocol has been both audited and formally verified.
- Aptos Core implementation and testing. A large number of validators operating in diverse environments is important for both decentralization and security.
- Safer account key recovery and rotation protocols. To mitigate against key theft, Aptos supports the ability for any account to rotate its private key.
- Multi-agent transactions. Multi-agent transactions leverage Move's signer type to allow an arbitrary number of atomic actions in one single transaction across multiple on-chain accounts.
Is Aptos Worth Investing?
When we look back to the development history of layer 1 blockchain, there are many successful cases.
- The outbreak of ICOs in 2017, Ethereum is the biggest winner.
- 2018 is the era of layer 1 blockchain, IOTA, NEO, ETC, NEM, BSV, EOS, etc was built at that time. Among them, IOTA has made the biggest success since the ROI is 1000x.
- In 2021, Solona, Terra, and AVAX have opened a new era of layer 1 blockchain through blockchain games, NFT, and DeFi, with increases ranging from dozens to more than 100 times.
But after a short time, most of the projects are going downward. Why? Because of the technical progress and one new blockchain may replace the elder ones. For Aptos, since it is more advanced on safety and scalability and has attracted VCs, it may be a moon-shot project. So for retail investors, if you can get a low price of APTOS in the secondary market or join in some early projects that are built on Aptos, you may get a chance to gain some profit. However, layer 1 blockchain is for developers, and ecosystem development always comes with uncertainty, so whether it will be a great success in the long term is not certain.
What Is the Roadmap of Aptos(APTOS)?
